Using Their Strongest Leg, Chemistry

Their strongest leg, chemistry, is the area of their greatest ministry fruitfulness. It is a God-given gift. Because this area comes naturally to them and brings them joy, they want to spend most of their ministry time using their chemistry gift. Unfortunately, this will limit their influence for Christ. Inspirational leaders should enjoy and maximize their chemistry gift but become adept at using the other two legs.

Inspirational leaders use their chemistry gift to create ownership and momentum in a group. They pay close attention to the reactions of both individuals and the entire group, and they know how to keep people mentally and emotionally engaged. Inspirational leaders can often lead in a way that results in the rapid numeric growth of their church or organization. Their challenge is to encourage spiritual and structural depth that is commensurate with that growth. If the church gets larger without its base becoming wider and deeper in spirituality and strategy, the church will lack stability.

Inspirational leaders often have the gift of an evangelist. They intuitively know how to engage people in conversations about God and can do it in a winsome way that encourages further relationship and dialogue. Inspirational leaders usually have social intelligence and intuitively understand the relational dynamics of a group or crowd.

The gift of an evangelist is a critical gift for the church today, as fruitful evangelism is becoming more challenging as the culture changes. Inspirational leaders should discern how and when to use this gift and how to maximize it. They should make sure their church or organization has created strong and reliable systems for the follow-up and assimilation of new believers, to help root them in their faith. They should not neglect this gift—they should fan it into flame and create a structure and process for evangelism to happen naturally in their church or organization.

For inspirational leaders, an important component of their ministry fruitfulness is their ability to promote. However, overpromising can be a part of promoting. Some people will view them as shallow unless they display a commensurate depth of character and humility.
